iA Frisco stop, then an oil boom
Beggs began as a Frisco railroad stop in 1899, with hog, cattle and horse ranching around it. Oil was found just west of town in 1918, and it stayed a boomtown until about 1926; after that it went back to corn, cotton, pecans and livestock. It had 1,179 people in 2020, every one of them counted as rural. Oklahoma 16 runs through town and US-75 is about four miles east.
iiCountry work
Rural land means fence that has to keep animals in, brush that comes back every year, gravel that washes out of the drive, and sheds full of things nobody uses. Those are jobs, not chores, and they’re the reason we bring our own skid steer and dump trailer.
