iFrom oil boom to new neighborhoods
On November 22, 1905, wildcatters struck oil here on land owned by Ida E. Glenn, and the Glenn Pool field was soon producing more than 120,000 barrels a day. The town that grew up around it had only 280 people in 1950. Then Tulsa grew south: Glenpool had 2,706 people by 1980, grew 26.7 percent from 2010 to 2020, and counted 13,691 in 2020. It’s in Tulsa County, on the eastern edge of the Cross Timbers, and Highway 67 links it to Bixby.
